After we had enjoyed all those delicious recipes, we were invited to participate in a step-by-step Beauty And The Beast-inspired paper roses tutorial by Sara Kim from Hand Made By Sara Kim. Let me just say, for this DIY-challenged-mom, these paper roses were not as easy to make as they appeared, however, I had a trip making them alongside a bunch of such cool ladies.
To make these beautiful Beauty and The Beast-inspired paper roses all you need are the following materials: scrapbook paper or Kraft paper, scissors, hot glue gun, and glue sticks. Easy, right? I bet, we all have these materials in our households. 🙂
Now for the paper rose making process. We were instructed to cut our scrapbook paper in three long strips. According to our instructor, the strips of paper don’t have to be the same width. Then we moved to folding each individual strips into three folds.
After all three individual strips of paper were folded, we moved onto cutting round shapes from the strips of paper to form rough circles. Again, these don’t have to be perfectly oval or rounds. One tip to keep in mind is to keep each individual set of ovals together, it helps when you are putting your rose petals together. Then we moved on to cutting a small straight line (slit) on the each oval bundle, from the tip to under the center of the oval. After that, we hot glued each tip, where the slit was cut together to form the flower petals. Using another small square, we rolled it to form the inner rose’s petal. To form the outer petals, we glued each petal to the next and to the next one to form a circle of petals.
Once that part was done, it was time to assemble our roses. We did this by placing a metal wire (stem) through the center of our biggest rose petal section, then placing the middle petal on the inside of the larger section and the smallest section in the middle part of the rose. Finally, we place the inner rose petals and glued everything together. To make the finished rose, we made paper leaves and glued them onto the rose.
Of course, we couldn’t finish the day without snapping a few pics with our creations! 🙂 So, what do you thinking of our Beauty And The Beast-inspired paper roses? Anyways, be sure to come back for more Beauty And The Beast insider goodies and the beast part, our movie review coming up this Friday.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
