From August 1 to August 3, 2014 is the Florida’s tax free holiday weekend. This weekend you can take advantage of NO sales tax or local option tax on books, clothing, footwear and certain accessories selling for $100 or less and certain back-to-school supplies under $15 or less and on the first $750 of the sales price for computers and certain computer-related accessories. Also several local Miami Mall, Dadeland Mall, The Falls, Miami International Mall and Shops at Sunset Place, will have great giveaways and back to school activities throughout the Florida sales tax holiday (see the list below).

Miami-Area Malls Events
Dadeland Mall
- During tax-free weekend, area-families are invited to grab the kids and celebrate the new school year during Kidgits Back-to-School event on Saturday, August 2 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Lenscrafters Corridor. Summer might be ending soon but the fun is just beginning so join us as we say hello to another great school year!
- Additionally, shopping will be quite a delight on Saturday, August 2 as live music fills the mall’s corridors from 5 – 7 p.m.
Miami International Mall
- On Saturday, August 2, area families are invited to Simon Kidgits Club Back to School Bash from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Kohl’s Court. Kidgits members will have the opportunity to celebrate the end of summer with an afternoon of fun and activities to get ready to go back to school. There will also be a Fashion Show at 3 p.m. in the Macy’s Men’s Court, showcasing the latest fall fashion trends for the new school year.
- Also, be on the lookout for our mall management staff that will be eager to introduce themselves as a “Surprise and Delight,” and say “thank you” for shopping – and maybe even present a treat. These gifts will vary, but visitors can expect chilled water bottles, or perhaps even some candy or other snack!
The Falls
- On Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, The Falls is teaming up with South Florida Parenting to host the 10th annual Back to School Splash event from 12 – 5 p.m., with most activities taking place in Center Court but also additional activations, including sampling from The Falls restaurants, spread out throughout the center. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a “Pirate Treasure Hunt” with the chance to win a $200 Simon American Express Gift Card to The Falls, magic show, entertainment on the Center Court stage, arts and crafts, and goody bags for Kidgits members.
- Throughout the weekend, shoppers will receive a Free iPad case, courtesy of Dr. Wireless, if you spend $250 or more at The Falls, and present your same-day receipt at Guest Services. What a cool Back to School gift!
Shops at Sunset Place
- Throughout tax-free weekend, be sure to keep an eye on our email blasts and social networking channels which will provide the latest and greatest discounts, coupons, specials and exclusive offers.
- Additionally, guests are encouraged to stop by our Summer Concert Series on Saturday, August 2 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Plaza. Some great local bands will be entertaining throughout the mall’s corridors with their fabulous music.
- On Saturday, August 2, fashionistas can enjoy a very special ABC’s of Style event from 2 – 6 p.m. in first level Plaza. A collaboration with Teen Vogue, the event will feature an exclusive style guide, mall-wide discount offers and samples, music and fun.
