In 2018, DISH launched an integration with the Google Assistant that allows you to control your TV by pairing your Hopper receiver with a Google Assistant device! If you liked that feature, you aren’t alone! But DISH is not done enhancing your TV viewing experience. In 2019, DISH plans to build the Google Assistant into its Hopper family receivers. Which means that in 2019, you’ll be able to access the Google Assistant directly on your TV using your DISH voice remote. The best part is that there are no additional devices required to use this feature. Check out more details below.
Access the Google Assistant using DISH Voice Remote
With the Google Assistant built-in on Hopper, customers will be able to use the DISH voice remote to ask the Assistant questions and see answers on the screen like the weather forecast or games scores. Users will also be able to control smart home devices, such as dimming the lights or adjusting the thermostat, and relive favorite memories by pulling up Google Photos on the TV screen – all with their voice.
The Google Assistant will be accessible via the DISH voice remote and broadband-connected Hopper (all generations), Joey (all models) or Wally. If you are a new DISH customer, you will receive the voice remote with all Hopper family receivers at no extra cost and if you are a current customers without a voice remote, you can upgrade for $20.
