As a super-busy mom myself with one husband, three very active kiddos, and a full-time business, I understand how busy everybody is these days. We already have so much on our plates that finding the time to eat right isn’t always number one in our to-do list. Many of the moms answered that most mornings they skipped breakfast and snacks due to the lack of time. And yes, I am guilty of doing this very thing. Well, I know that in order to keep up with my super-busy lifestyle, I have to make time to eat nutritious and protein packed foods.
As super-busy moms, our first priority is to find quick solutions to get important nutrients without having to sacrifice time, money, or quality. So, this weekend that’s exactly what I did! I went to my favorite local Walmart store and stock up on some of my favorite nutritious and protein packed. So, here are my clever snacks for super-busy moms that will help you keep up with your busy family.
Clever Snacks for Super-Busy Moms
Let me start by saying that most of the snacks I choose to purchase can easily be made ahead the night before and/or are non-perishable but most of all, are kid-friendly. Because you know that the moment the kids see you eating something, they want to have some too. Let’s get started.
Go for the Cereal!
Number 1 clever snack for super-busy moms. Go for the cereal! – Make a baggie of your favorite low-sugar, high-fiber, and whole-grain cereal while you are preparing the kids’ lunches and stuff it in your purse. You can even add some nuts or dry fruits to help keep hunger at bay!
Go for the Cheese!
Number 2 clever snack for super-busy moms. Go for the cheese! – If your family is anything like mine, they love, love, love cheese. So, grab a few extra packs of your kids’ favorite string cheese because cheese is the perfect portable snack for your mid-morning snack! If you are looking for an added crunch, pair your cheesy snack with a pair of whole wheat or multi-grain crackers. Yum!
Go for the fruits!
Number 3 clever snack for super-busy moms. Go for the fruits! Hey, listen, fruits are a no-brainer snack. If you been reading this blog for some time, you know that I am all about fruits. So, go for the fruits and stock up on apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, etc. The best thing about fruits is that they are not only portable, but they won’t easily spoiled, which is perfect for super-busy moms. Plus, fruits are packed with lots of fiber, essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. And if you want to add more protein to your snack, you can easily pair many fruits with a couple of spoons of your favorite peanut butter.
Go for the Popcorn!
Number 4 clever snack for super-busy moms. This snack is highly suggested by my sister-in-law and she suggests popping your own snacks! I am talking about low-fat microwavable popcorn. If you go for the 100-calories or fewer options, you can have a huge serving of this family-friendly snack all to yourself. My sister-in-law gave me the idea of popping a bag in the morning before I drop off the kids to school and tossing it in my purse. This way is always at arm’s reach and no excuses for having a healthy snack. She also gave me the idea of adding my favorite dry fruits like dry bananas or raising to my popcorn for even more added nutrients.
