Cute crafts for kids to do during winter break!
Once again Winter break is here and it is time to find entertaining things for kids to do while they are inside. Winter time is stressful enough, parents have to get shopping done, prepare holiday meals, welcome out of town family members and more. But winter break doesn’t have to be a stressful time for parents and kids, Check out these great, easy, cute crafts you can do with kids this holiday season.
A Special Mug for Someone Special!
Help the kids to decorate a special mug for the grandparents or other family members: Purchase a ceramic mug for each child & gather markers in various colors, and tape. Let the kids decide what design they want their special mug to have, help them make a tape stencils on the mug, let the kids color following their desired design, let the colors dry, pull the stencils off, bake the mugs at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set the marker, let it cool completely, wash it and you are ready to wrap it for the special someone.
Fun with Paper plate!
Let the kids have fun with paper plates: all you need to do for this fun craft is gather some paper plates, cotton balls, construction paper in favorites colors, black buttons, glue OR you they can make their own edible art. Gather fun colored candy or M&M’s, fruits, and whipped cream, pretzel sticks and scissors. The kids can make a cute Santa or a snowman! For Santa, let your kiddos can glue a white beard on the paper plate using cotton balls and glue, they can glue buttons for eyes, and make his hat out of construction paper. Finish Santa’s hat by gluing cotton balls on the hat to make the fur-line trim and pompom at the top. Let them make an edible snowman with whipped cream, colored candy or M&M’s, and pretzel stick. Help the kids make the shape of a snowman with the whipped cream topping, add eyes and buttons using M&M’s. Use the pretzel sticks to make arms and enjoy!
Make your own Pine Cone Ornaments!
Let the kids have fun and make their own special Pine Cone Ornaments: Have the kids start with spreading glue over the cones and sprinkling white glitter on the glue to make them look like they are coated in snow. If you like the idea of more color on your tree, have kids sprinkle colored glitter on the pine cones. You can even glue jewels and other pieces on the pine cones to make them really pop. If you don;t have pine cones readily available, try using left over items form around your home, like scraps of ribbon, cardboard, and more to make pretty ornaments.
Have fun with Jar Lid Picture Frames
Have the kids have fun and create jar lid picture frames (this cloud be a great grandparents gifts from the kids): All you need for this one is to gather a few old jar lids and few family photos cut down to size to fit the jar lid. Help the kids or let the kids glue one of the pictures on the lid and, using a hole punch or tin snips, cut a small hole in the top of the jar lid to decorate your jar lid with a colorful ribbon.
