Despicable Me 2, the sequel to the successful 2010 animated film Despicable Me, opens today in theaters across the U.S. Despicable Me 2 starts Steve Carell as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy, Benjamin Bratt as Eduardo/El Macho, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo, Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario, Steve Coogan as Silas Ramsbottom, Ken Jeong as Floyd, Elsie Fisher as Agnes, Dana Gaier as Edith, Moises Arias as Antonio and Pierre Coffin as the Minions.
In Despicable 2, we see the genius, ex-villain, Gru, in the role as a single dad looking to earn an honest living for his girls: Margo, Agnes and Edith. An unknown villain pulled a heist not seen since Gru’s moon swipe in the first Despicable me. Gru is then recruited by a secret agency, the Anti-Villain League or AVL, an organization dedicated to fighting evil. AVL director, Silas Ramsbottom, assigns Lucy as Dru’s partner to help capture whomever is responsible for stealing a serum which can transform nice creatures into evil ones.
Enters Eduardo/El Macho, which is Dru’s nemesis and the film’s main antagonist. Eduardo is the operating owner of a local and very popular restaurant in the local mall, Salsa & Salsa. Eduardo is a Latin-lover whose passion, Spanish accent and charismatic personality can conquer the heart of many women. Gru’s home life is not left behind in Despicable Me 2 and see a lot more of his 3 daughters as well as those cute and helpful menions. Gru’s oldest daughter falls hard for Eduardo’s son Antonio, which doesn’t go well with Gru. Despicable Me 2 is a funny movie that will get laughs from young and old. I took my three kids ages 9, 7 and 2 and they all love it, specially the minions. In my opinion Despicable Me movies are fun and light-heart.
