If you were to ask my parents what was their biggest complaint about me as a teen, their answer would probably be that I was spent too much time on the phone with my friends. Yeah, well typical 90’s teen, right!? My parents even had a running joke in our household and they called me “la operadora de la casa” or the household operator. Although time has gone by, my phone is still pretty much with me at all times. If you are wondering if I still use my phone to talk to my friends all day long, the answer is definitely no. However, staying connected to our familia (family) in the States and back in our native Nicaragua is today more important than ever. Nowadays, my phone is sort of my personal assistant. With it, I get through my day by scheduling my to-do list, taking pictures of my children and our many family adventures, getting my shopping done, of course, staying connected to my loved ones here and in Nicaragua. Hey, I even use my phone to earn money and make my business flourish. 🙂

Since my phone plays so many pivotal roles in my life, it is necessary that this piece of technology can keep up with my personal demands. For this and many other reasons, when it was time to upgrade my old smartphone, the choice was simple. A few weeks ago, I decided to upgrade to the new Samsung Galaxy S9+ and let me just say out of the bat here that the Samsung Galaxy S9+ has it all and more and I cannot wait to take it along with me when I visit my family in Nicaragua. Oh, the memories this device will help me capture and share with all my friends and family! 🙂

Discover The New Samsung Galaxy S9+

So, before we go any further, let’s discover the new Samsung Galaxy S9+. For starters, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ phone is super high tech. For instance, the front camera has an 8MP AF sensor with a pixel size of 1.22µm and three different camera settings: Selfie focus, Selfie, and Wide selfie.

The rear camera features a dual camera with dual Aperture lens that adapts like the human eye, it features a Wide-angle camera and a Telephoto camera both with a 12MP AF sensor and 5 different camera settings: Food Auto/Pro, Hyperlapse, Panorama, Super and Slow-mo, which we will go more into these settings later.

To continue, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ features don’t stop with an incredible camera, this piece of technology also boasts a 64GB memory inside an expandable memory capacity of up to 400GB. I’d say that’s plenty of memory for all my storage needs. Plus this phone is not only smart, it is also water resistant. *Based on test conditions of submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

But if that wasn’t enough, the battery life on the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is amazing. On a single charge, I can surf the net for up to 15 hours and talk for about 25 hours if need be! 🙂 The Samsung Galaxy S9+ it sure is not just an amazing phone, is also fast and secure. The phone is protected bt Knox protection, Knox is a real-time security monitoring and protection software that constantly verifies the integrity of the device through a chain of security checks that begin at the hardware level and extend to the operating system, and detects any tampering to ensure your data is always secure.

But security doesn’t stop with Knox, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ also features Anti-virus and malware prevention (Powered by McAfee). And finally, if all that wasn’t incredible, this phone is available in three different colors: lilac purple, midnight black, and coral blue. Of course, I personally went with the lilac purple because I thought it was just so pretty and the color is just so perfect.

Now, let’s talk about the Samsung Galaxy S9+’s incredible features. Hey, because those are the features Samsung is known for. Let’s begin with one of my favorite features on this phone and that is the Intelligent Scan. Because we have to keep our investment secured, therefore, authentication is key. Intelligent scan combines iris scan and face recognition for convenient unlocking and in some cases provides enhanced security for certain authentication services. In other words, Intelligent scan recognizes your face by using your phone’s camera and scanning your iris to unlock your phone even in low light!

How to activate Intelligent Scan on the Samsung Galaxy S9+?

To activate Intelligent Scan on your new Samsung Galaxy S9+, simply follow these steps:

• Step 1: The very first thing you should do is register your face and your irises with your Samsung Galaxy S9+. You do this by going into your Settings app and then tap on Lock Screen and Security tab.
• Step 2: Choose the Face recognition option. Now, follow the instructions on the screen for registering your face. A thing to note here, make sure you’re in a well-lit area and you’re not wearing anything that just obstructs your face.
• Step 3: Once you have registered your face, go back to your Lock screen and security tab and this time tap on Iris scanner and follow the instructions just like you did when registering your irises.
• Step 4: Now that you have done that, go back to the Lock Screen and Security tab and tapping on the Intelligent Scan tab to go ahead and enable the setting.
• Step 5: One final step after you have enabled Intelligent Scan, you can control how Intelligent scan works by playing around with the settings and options within Intelligent Scan. Here, you can choose to turn on Intelligent Scan Unlocks which will turn on Intelligent Scan for unlocking your phone. Lastly, you can choose to activate Screen-on Intelligent Scan which will use Intelligent Scan to quickly unlock your phone as soon as you turn on your screen.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ Super Slow-mo

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ Super Slow-mo feature is truly one of my favorites! Having three little kids at home who love to create their own videos, this feature has fast become one of our favorites on this phone. Super Slow-Mo will slow down the pace of your video to help you get just what you are looking for in a video and let me just say this feature is pretty simple to use.

How to create Super Slow-mo videos on the Samsung Galaxy S9+?

How to create Super Slow-mo videos just follow these simple steps:

• Step 1: To get started, you have to access your camera, You can do so, by going to your Apps list and tapping on the  Camera icon or by tapping on the camera icon from your lock screen or home screen.
• Step 2: From your camera preview, tap on the SUPER SLOW-MO mode.
• Step 3: To make sure the super slow-mo mode is set to Multi-take or Single-take. You do this by tapping on the Setting icon, then tapping on the Super slow-mo and finally, tapping on the Multi-take or Single-take. Note. my phone already defaulted to Multi-take from factory settings.
• Step 4: Now it is time to record your slow-mo video. You do this by tapping on the record icon to start recording a video. The super slow motion will start when something movies within the square in your video.
• Step 5: Once you have enough slow-motion video recorded, tap the recording icon again to stop recording the video. And that’s it, you have yourself a slow-mo video like the one above.

Now you can turn yourself into an emoji with the AR emoji Feature!

Are you the queen of selfies? I am not but the next feature on the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is pretty fun, to say the least. Has this ever happened to you, you are texting with your BFF and want to send a funny emoji of a cool chica that looks exactly like you but cannot find the right one? Well, that scenario will be long forgotten once you start using the AR emoji feature on the Samsung Galaxy S9+ because you yourself will be the next emoji you sent your BFFs. With the AR emoji feature, you can turn YOU into an emoji. Yes, that right. AR Emoji on your Samsung Galaxy S9+ allows you to create an augmented reality version of yourself by simply by taking a selfie. Then share your real-life feelings as emoji stickers and videos. Now if Samsung could only add Latino emojis to their next Galaxy phone, we will be in emoji heaven. Just think, the next time you want to send an emoji of a chancla or a chancletazo to someone behaving badly? LOL

How to use AR emoji on the Samsung Galaxy S9+?

To turn yourself into an emoji using the AR emoji just follow these simple steps:

• Step 1: The first thing you need to do is to launch the Camera app, switch your camera preview to the front-facing camera. If you’re not, just tap the camera switch icon.
• Step 2: Now at the top of the camera preview screen, swipe to select or tap the AR Emoji mode.
• Step 3: Now, frame and center your head within the circle in your camera preview and take a pic of your face. For best results, remove glasses and clear away your hair from your face and smile with your lips closed.
• Step 4: The app will then ask whether you are male or female. After you respond, it will create your AR avatar, and allow you to make a variety of choices. You will be able to choose from two different face styles, adjust your skin or hair color, add glasses, and select one of several outfits. When you are finished, you’ll see your created emoji below the viewfinder in the Camera app.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S9+ has many amazing and incredible features, I had to narrow it down to the two features above and this last one. Before we discuss this last feature, I have a confession to make. I am guilty of always forgetting to bring out my DSLR when we go on a trip. The actual problem is not forgetting to bring the camera, it is about hauling that heavy thing with me everywhere we go. This is why the Dual Aperture lens on the Samsung Galaxy S9+ has won me over a thousand times.  The dual aperture lens, which adapts like the human eye, allows you to capture stunning pictures in bright daylight, which we have plenty of in South Florida but also in super low light as well. This feature will definitely come in handy when we are traveling this summer!
