Last week we had the opportunity to see the new DreamWorks’ movie The Croods. Our kids loved the movie, even our little one, were entertained the entire time. THE CROODS is a 3D comedy adventure that follows the Croods as they venture onto a lifetime journey. The Croods family consist of Grug (Nicolas Cage), teenage daughter Eep (Emma Stone), Grug’s prehistoric mate Ugga (Catherine Keener), the youngest of the Croods Sandy, Grug’s son Thunk (Clark Duke) and Grug’s mother-in-law Gran (Cloris Leachman). Eep is a rebellious teenager trying to scape the routine and one night she meets Guy (Ryan Reynolds) and his trusty friend & pet Belt who exposes the Croods to new possibilities.
The Croods world is turn upside down when their cave is destroyed and they are faced with the reality that their world has come to an end. After the cave collapsed their known world opens to a new colorful world as seen from afar. The family together with Guy embark across an spectacular landscape filled with new fantastic creatures. The flora and fauna in this movie are spectacular, you will be amazed. The journey through this new world is where we see how each family member interact with each other. The duo of Grug and Gran bring a fun conflict between mother-in-law and son-in-law situations. Grug mission in life is to keep his family safe, which he only knows how to using his brute strength. Guy is a problem solver, he uses his brain to figure out his next step, instead of fear, because of this Grug and Guy are often against each other in hilarious circumstances. In my opinion, the best character in the movie is Belt, Belt is a sloth and Guy’s best friend. Belt’s signature expression is “Da da daaaaa” which all the kids in the theater were saying by the end of the movie.
Your kids would truly love this movie, they would learn to accept the unknown, be brave and to always say “I Love You” to your love ones! Check out the movie trailer below and you can check out The Croods official site here and play games, learn more about the character and even download Belt’s signature expression ringtone.
Disclosure: My family and I were provided complimentary admission to an advanced screening to facilitate this review. The opinion expressed above are 100% mine and not influenced by anything or anyone.
