The other day, while having my morning cup of joe or as I like to call it “my cup of joy”, I got inspired. After all, I am a tired mommy who needs a little bit of bright JOY early in the mornings. 🙂 Anyways, I started to look at all the mugs in my cupboard and I noticed a pattern. If you are wondering what that is? I will tell you right in a minute. As a Latina, my life is pretty colorful and bright and so are my friends. I love to surround my life with colorful patterns and bright scents, it makes my life bright . However, it seems that hasn’t been translated to my desk or my cupboard, because honestly, they are way too plain for my taste! You know that as a mom, we spend a lot of time at our desks and a lot more time in the kitchen. Therefore, in order to introduce a little more brightness and vibrant colors into those two areas of my life, I decided to create a very simple, but very colorful craft. Today I want to share with you, my Easy DIY Marbled Mugs.
Easy DIY Marbled Mugs
Okay, so what do you need to make this Easy DIY Marble Mugs craft? First, you will need mugs in whatever size you desire or have handy and I assure you, I have plenty. Second, you will need assorted nail polish and you know us girls have plenty of those around too. 🙂 Third, you will need a container filled with enough water to be able to dip your mug in it. You will also need paper towels and one or two toothpicks. That’s it!
So, let’s begin making our Easy DIY marbled mugs. The first thing you need to do is remove any stickers or labels on your mugs and make sure the mugs are clean and dry. Fill your container, about halfway, with warm water.
Continue creating your easy DIY marbled mugs by creating a nail polish design. All you need to do is add a few drops of nail polish into the warm water container. You can gently blow on the nail polish to disperse the color or you can use a toothpick. Next, dip your mug making sure the nail polish stays on the outside of your mug. Work quickly for best results.
The last step is to spray the outside of your mugs with clear acrylic spray, make sure you only spray the outside if you plan on using these mugs for drinking coffee. That’s it, you are done! Easy, right? Remember these mugs shouldn’t be used in the microwave and they should only be hand washed.
Besides using these marbled mugs for drinking your morning coffee, I use them to sort small items on my desk and what better way to add color to this part of my life than with this fun craft. And as a plus, these mugs give me the gift of practically by keeping me organized. I also use these mugs as gifts for my colorful friends and as planters for my spices and my super cute cactuses.
One final note, if you are wondering where I got my inspiration for my Easy DIY marbled mugs? As I said before not only I love to surround myself with colorful patterns, but I also love bold and bright scents, such as the variety of Glade® products. The new Glade® Radiant Berries™ scented candle and PlugIns® Scented Oils bring brightness and boldness into my life. You know that vivid rush of boldness that leaves you with a spark of playful and light? That’s what I am talking about. How do you add bright colorful, and boldness into your everyday life?
