Last year our family embarked on a new adventure, our adventure was and still is to eat healthier! We made the decision to begin replacing process foods with more veggies, fruits and overall wholesome proteins. Our resolution included less dinning out and more homemade meals. Thankfully, here in Florida we have access to a lot of local farmer’s and seafood markets, that carry a lot of fresh Florida shrimp and fish products.
One of our favorite seafood markets has a small restaurant attached to it, but do to that we are trying to eat more homemade meals we go there less and less. My husband loves shrimp and overall seafood savory foods. Because we are still implementing new recipes into our daily and weekly meal plans, I went to the Fresh From Florida website and started looking over the awesome recipes they have there and found the recipe below…
Fresh Florida Shrimp and Sweet Pepper Stir Fry with Honey-Citrus Glaze
Ingredients:
- 3 Florida bell peppers, assorted colors, sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon Florida honey
- 1 cup Florida orange juice
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- Oil for cooking
- Sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Directions:
- Lightly coat the shrimp with the corn starch. Preheat a large sauté pan over medium high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the preheated sauté pan. Carefully add the coated shrimp to the sauté pan and cook until almost done, about 3 minutes.
- Remove the shrimp from the pan and add the peppers and onions. Cook the peppers for 4 minutes.
- Add the honey, orange juice and soy sauce to the pan. Turn the heat up slightly. Bring the liquid ingredients up to a boil. Turn the heat back down to medium high and add the shrimp back to the sauté pan. The sauce should thicken and the shrimp will be cooked after three minutes. Serve over brown rice. Garnish with sesame seeds.
This recipe seems super easy to make and I am planning of making him this for our Valentine’s day dinner. I cannot wait to surprise him with a big plate of shrimp! 🙂 What do you think? I would love any help from any seafood expert out there, please share with us your favorite Shrimp or seafood recipe…
