Finally, summer break is here and it is time to have summer fun with the kids. Right? Hey, just because summer equals relaxing doesn’t mean that you want to spend the entire day doing absolutely nothing. Therefore, if you want to take advantage of your summer break and avoid bored kids at home, here is a quick guide of my personal things to do with the kids during the summer season.
Fun Things to Do With Kids This Summer – Outdoor activities.
Since we live in Florida, our plans include both outdoor and indoor activities. So, let’s begin with our favorite outdoor activities.
Our fist favorite outdoor activity is as simple as taking a few steps outside our front door. Number one – paint the sidewalk with water or sidewalk chalk. Yes, it is a simple task but the kids have tons of fun and it is super affordable.
Our second favorite outdoor activity is as simple as taking a bike ride around the block or taking a walk to our nearest park. Simple, right?
Our third favorite outdoor activity takes a little bit of planning but swimming at the local pool or taking a drive to our nearest beach is a top favorite. And why does this activity involve a bit of planning for us? Well, the answer is because we don’t own a pool and our nearest beach is about 30 minutes away. However, if you do own a pool or have access to a local pool or leave close to the beach, this activity doesn’t require much planning on your part and the kids will love every minute of it.
Other of our favorite outdoor activities are visiting a local market, a local zoo or a local aquarium. We also love impromptu picnics, a friendly soccer match, or as simple as playing with a frisbee.
Fun Things to Do With Kids This Summer – Indoor activities.
As I mentioned before, we live in Florida and Summer is our rainy season. Therefore, when it is raining outside, we take things indoors!
Our first favorite indoor activity is not complicated at all, my kids love to color and read. So, during the summer if they cannot be outside, they can color or read one of their favorite books.
Our second favorite indoor activity is heading to the library and checking out a few books to read at home or even just to attend story time. Our local library offers so many free activities for kids all year round, so we take advantage of them whenever possible. Plus our library system even offers free passes to many of our local venues, such as zoos and museums. You should check with your local library for specific offers available in your area.
Our third favorite indoor activity is to head to our any of our local malls or kid-friendly museum. At the mall, the kids can go bowling or play at an indoor playground and at the museum, they can continue to expand their knowledge. Win-win, right? We love visiting kid-friendly museums during the summer because the kids get to explore and they won’t be bored at home. Plus, some museums in our area offer free days, which are always fun. Check your local museums for specific offers and free days.
Remember how I mentioned that we love impromptu picnics? Well, whether we are home or visiting a local venue, I always keep in mind when they will be hungry. So, before we go anywhere, I pack simple things that won’t spoil while we are having fun. For example, some of our favorites are pretzels, fruits, cheeses, small sandwiches, and to drink, Fruit Shoot® juices. And why? Well, for starters, all these snacks are easy to pack and handy when eating on the go. Secondly, Fruit Shoot® bottles are designed for on-the-go. But that not all, Fruit Shoot® bottle’ caps are also resealable, which is a HUGE plus for this family. Have your kids ever tried Fruit Shoot® juices before? If they haven’t, you can find a store that carries these delicious juices by visiting the Fruit Shoot® website here.
