Did you know that 142 million Americans (adults and children) go boating each year? Well, living in Miami, this is a well-known fact. Seriously, just a short stroll down one of our favorite neighborhoods in Miami and you know that boating is the ultimate family recreational entertainment. Hey, because there is nothing more fun than gathering your whole family and enjoying the day out on the boat, right? Well now that summer is here, the kids are out of school, and that we have more time to enjoy our favorite hobbies; it is time to slow down this summer: get on the water for a relaxing staycation!
According to a Discovery Boating survey, 84% of parents think their kids would be more likely to unplug on a boat trip versus a road trip and because Florida summers are the perfect excuse to spending time on your boat. Why not enjoy the great weather and the many boating options with a relaxing summer staycation. If you are thinking, but I am not in Florida or near the coast. Don’t worry, we have a great resource for those of you that have other options to go boating, more on that below.
Safety first!
But before we continue, whether you own a boat or you are renting a boat, make sure to assign and fit each member of your onboard team with a life jacket prior to departure. Also, make sure to follow all safety regulations to have a safe and fun outing on your boat. Now, let’s continue with a short guide to having a relaxing staycation on your boat.

So, what are some of the things we all can do while on our boat staycation. Well, let’s start with some fun water activities, such as fishing. Hey, who doesn’t enjoy fishing right? Well, that’s the obvious option, but what about tubing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and wakesurfing? The kids do sure enjoy these fun water activities! One of the things my family and I love to do during the summer is an impromptu picnic at the park. But why not take your picnic and enjoy it on your boat? Well, next time you are thinking of a fun summer picnic, I would suggest enjoying one on your boat.
