Are you ready to hit the road and go on a fun trip with the family? If you are then make sure your car is ready for the journey ahead. If you are hitting the road for Spring break or for the upcoming Summer season there are a few things that you MUST do before you turn that key and take the road to your destination. Today, I want to share with you a few tips to make the trip is a little less hectic, at least on the car end. 🙂
Getting your Car Ready for a Road Trip
First of all get your car ready/mechanically. Take the car to get service, this entitles to have the car’s engine oil & filter changed and other liquids/oils topped off. Tires and tire’s pressure must be inspected and inflated to the manufacture’s specified pressure, don’t forget to check your spare. Breaks, shocks, struts and springs must also be inspected.
Secondly, take care of the outside. Wash your car and check wipers blades to provide the best visibility when on the road. Make sure wipers don’t smear your windshield when on. Take care of all the vehicle’s lights, this includes:Â brakes, turn signals, headlights and taillights.
Finally, better safe than sorry. Nothing can put a damper on your vacation faster than breaking down in the middle of the road without any emergency equipment. You must be prepare for the worst, bring with you blankets, flashlights with extra batteries, extra maps, flares, first aid kit, jumper cables, emergency toolkit, car insurance, emergency car care service numbers, a power bank for your cell phone, and a portable battery charger.
By preparing ahead of your trip and following the tips above you will not only ensured that you are prepared, but in the worst case scenario you have everything needed to find help. Remember preparation is just the beginning, caution and a good attitude when driving will make the trip more enjoyable for everyone riding with you.
