Now that the summer is over and the kids have settled back down to their Back-to-School routine, it is time to start planning our next family adventure. If you have been reading this site, you are well aware that we love to travel and you might also know that we are very budget-conscious when it comes to our spending. If you are like us and considered yourself a budget-conscious traveler, you know that the internet has made it possible to find amazing deals on amazing destinations all over the world. But does this mean that you want to blow your entire family budget on a single vacation? I bet your answer is a no, so I want to give you a few tips on How to Save Money for Your Next Gateway.
Okay, so let me start by saying this. I am not stating that you have to skimp on your family vacations, I am just stating that there are many tricks you can do to save the extra money needed before, during, and after your desired vacation getaway. What better way to enjoy your destination than without worrying about adding its cost to your monthly expenses. So, here it is, let’s learn How to Save Money for Your Next Getaway.
- To begin with, make your Travel Decisions. Decide what, when, how, and where you and your family will be going. By determining what, when, how, and where you will be traveling, you can set a Budget for your vacation destination. Remember, your budget should include all your costs, including airfare, lodging, car rental, attractions, meals and so on. By figuring out your total budget, you can divide the cost by the number of months before you leave. So, if you need a total of $2000 for your vacation and you have 10 months to go, you know that you need to save an extra $200 a month to make your vacation getaway a reality.
- Next, Save your Money. The first step in getting the savings process started is by opening a dedicated vacation savings account, here you can set up an automated monthly payment and let the savings add up. To increase your monthly vacation savings, you can also reduce your grocery bill by buying in bulk, shopping at your local farmers market, by using paper coupons or by scanning your receipts and using savings apps. Also take a look at what you are purchasing on a weekly basis and rework your grocery shopping list, in no time you will be adding more money to your vacation savings account.
- Next, find the deals. Now that you have decided on the destination details and you have your vacation money set aside. It is time to maximize your vacation money and go on an amazing trip. Start by using your favorite search engine to find things to do in and around your getaway destination. Perhaps finding free museum days or discounts to the local amusement parks, gas stations, hotels, and even restaurants. Who knows? Maybe you will even come under budget and be able to visit more places or eat at that special restaurant you thought was out of the question. 🙂
