Do you remember when you were a child and your future was a blank canvas in which you will make your dreams come true? Everything you dreamed and hoped for was within arms reach. As adults, those childhood dreams seem so distant but have you ever sat down to discuss your child dreams or what they dream of becoming or doing one day? Many successful people can trace their successes to their childhood dreams, for example, as a child Walt Disney dreamed of being an animator and you know how the rest of the story goes. Since, Disney’s Ultimate Fairy Tale Sleeping Beauty released in Diamond Edition Blu-rayTM yesterday for the first time ever on Digital HD, today I want to talk about Making Dreams Come True with Aurora!

Making-Dreams-Come-True-with-Aurora-Image-2-Miami-Mommy-SavingsHow to encourage your child’s interests, wants and desires…

Acknowledge your child’s dreams: Rather than interrupting your child, listen & talk to them. Childhood dreams are symbols of what your child’s interest, wants and desires are for his/her future. Instead of discouraging an unattainable dream, help them determine how a variation of that unattainable dream can be achieve.

Encourage them to dream: Talk to your child about what they want to be when they grow up. Talk to them about, where they see themselves in x-amount of years. If you child is not specific about their dreams, it is okay, this is a great opportunity to speak to them and explore. You can ask a few questions such as what they want to be when they grow up or where they want to live, this is the perfect time to share with them what you used to dreamed about as a child. You can use the image below to do a bit of exploration about what their dreams are, jot down a few ideas and get the conversation started.

MyDreamIs

Explain to your child (ren) that all dreams can come true (within limits, of course) but they take a lot of work. Ultimately, dreams are a way for your child to see themselves into the future and as a parent, you are there to encourage, listen and help them make their own path in life.
