Do you love a good adventure? I do! I grew up in a household filled with books, the stories in those books helped us kids, develop vivid adventures. Since, I became a mommy, I have always encourage my little ones to imagine and have fun through adventure stories and educational shows. When I learned that we will be visiting Google Headquarters for a screening of Disney Junior’s Miles from Tomorrowland. I was static! Just imagine, a tour of Google headquarters! And yes, the little I.T nerd inside me was screaming at the top of its lungs! 🙂 To celebrate the end of World Space week, I want to share with you our Miles from Tomorrowland adventure at Google Headquarters!

Miles, Loretta, Merc, and their parents are always ready for an adventure and so am I. Our Google adventure began by visiting their headquarters campus in Mount view California, watching a top secret Miles from Tomorrowland episode (more on that on a later post), and finally meeting with the creator and executive producer of Miles from Tomorroland, several talented engineers from Google and a real NASA Astronaut! Yes, you read that right, you can see her in the pictures below. Just like Miles and his family space adventures, Dr. Yvonne Cagle, (NASA Astronaut & Consultant on Miles from Tomorrowland) are inspiring children to explore more about Science and Space technology.
***About Miles from Tomorrowland***
Space adventurer Miles Callisto is always ready for action, traveling through the universe with his family and his best friend, a robo-ostrich named Merc. The family includes mom Phoebe, the ship’s captain who sets a good example and encourages her family on every mission; dad Leo, a laid-back pilot and inventor who isn’t afraid to try new things; and big sister Loretta, who is a brilliant computer coder and always has her brother’s back. Together, they use teamwork and problem solving as they encounter obstacles while completing missions throughout outer space for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. The Callistos’ home base is a floating space station called the Stellosphere, and the StarJetter is the vehicle they use to go to other planets and galaxies. Each episode features a fact related to space or science that inspires the storyline.
Computer coding has been such an integral part of my life, starting in High School, I became fascinated with. As a matter of fact, before I decided to pursue a career in Information Technology, I wanted to do just that. I wanted to be a computer programmer to develop amazing programs and the hottest video games! While listening to Angela Navarro (Google Engineer) and Isis Anchalee (Software Engineer behind the #Ilooklikeanengineer social media movement), all those memories came rushing back and I was in computer heaven. I will share more about these two amazing young ladies on a later post. Personally, this experience was beyond amazing, to say the least.
After talking to Sascha Paladino (MILES FROM TOMORROWLAND Creator & Executive Producer), I was surprise to learn that he has been helping develop my kiddos imagination for a long time. I discover that he used to write for such shows as, Blues Clues and Ni Hao Kai-Lan. I also learned why Sascha wanted to create Miles, he stated that as a child he was fascinated with space and honestly, I think we all are quite fascinated with space as well.
We are all about family and Mile’s from Tomorrowland is just about that as well. Diane Ikemiyashiro, Director of Original Programming, Disney Junior, explained to us how Disney’s Junior shows take hours, months and even years to develop. Can you imagine that Miles himself has about 18.1 million lines of code? Yup, just think about how much space Disney Junior has in their mainframe. Incredible! Dr. Yvonne Cagle, NASA Astronaut & Consultant on Miles from Tomorrowland expressed to us how amazing it is to go off to space and how Miles is sharing those views with the next generation.
Since, Halloween is just a few weeks away and to celebrate this season, for the next seven weeks starting this Saturday October 10th, there will be new episodes of “Miles from Tomorrowland” paired with new episodes of “Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates. The episodes will premiere on Saturday mornings (check your local listings for times) on Disney Channel and includes a catch-up marathon on October 31.
This Saturday’s Halloween-themed episode is “Ghost Moon / Stormy Night in a Dark Nebula” on Disney Channel. In “Ghost Moon” – The Callistos are sent to investigate eerie sightings on a dark moon. Followed by “Stormy Night in a Dark Nebula”, where the Callistos enter a dark nebula and find some spooky inhabitants. Check out two clips from the upcoming episodes below.
