Next month is our fifteenth’s wedding anniversary, wow that’s a long time, right? 🙂 Anyhow, our anniversary also marks the beginning of many more family celebrations from Birthdays, anniversaries, to graduations. All of this just means is that starting next month and until later this summer, we will be having some kind of family celebration at one of our many extended family’s houses. Being a member of a typical Latin American family means that get-togethers include cousins, in-laws (tias & tios), and more than none, a few friends. Therefore, for every family celebrations, I usually bring a dessert for everyone to enjoy, whether it is a cake, a pie or something in between. This tradition is something my grandmother started a long time ago and now I am following in her footsteps.
(My Grandmother & her children)
My grandmother was a very special lady and carrying her legacy is something I am proud of doing. I have many memories of her and still remember fondly when she would come over to our house and bring us kids a crunchy or chocolatey treat and that was just for a visit. When it was time to celebrate she stepped it up. For special celebrations, she will make several desserts for the family to enjoy, however, since she was such a chocoholic many of her desserts revolved around some kind of chocolate theme. Since the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, her sweet tooth continues with me and my family. I love making sweet desserts that the family can enjoy together and since our anniversary is coming up, this past weekend I decided to make a quick pie, to kick off our anniversary celebrations a little earlier. 🙂 Check it out below and Go Ahead & Treat yourself!

(See the delicious milk chocolate with the crispy rice center?)
As you can see this recipe is quite simple, however, the combination of the coconut ice cream and the M&M’s® Crispy is delightful and full of flavor. Of course, if you are not a fan of coconut ice cream, you can replace it with your favorite ice cream variety and it will still be plenty delicious. What I love the most is that, since the M&M’s® Crispy has a delicious milk chocolate with a crispy rice center, it gives the pie an extra crunch just like my grandmother would have liked it.
If you have had the opportunity to sample the M&M’s® Crispy or maybe if you haven’t, I want to let you know that the M&M’s® Crispy are back and are available to purchase at your local CVS stores. The M&M’s® Crispy are available in individual size bags (1.35 oz. & 180 calories), perfect for an on the go snack! 🙂 or in bigger size bags (9.9 oz.) to share with the family. Of course, I had to pick both sizes available because you can’t never have enough M&M’s® Crispy around. Oh and one more thing, I found the M&M’s® Crispy in the seasonal isle with the rest of the Easter candy. Also, you can find a handy savings coupon here, so that next time you are shopping at your local CVS store you can pick up a few bags and make my yummy M&M’s® Crispy Sundae pie! 🙂
So, what was the final verdict? The hubby and the kiddos gave my M&M’s® Crispy Sundae Pie two thumbs up and by the end of the day, the pie was all gone. I will be sure to make this dessert again next month for our actual wedding anniversary. Now, I want to hear from you… Have you had the opportunity to sample the delicious M&M’s® Crispy yet?
