By now, most of the kids are back-to-school and everyone is finally settling nicely into the school routine. For our family, this period also marks the start of another soccer season. Yes, that’s correct. In just a few short weeks, the soccer field above will be filled with kids from pre-k to high school joining their old teams or a new one. Super exciting, however, this also means that for us moms, we are not only buying snacks for back-to-school, but we are also stocking up on snacks and drinks for practice and game days.
Mommy Approved Snacks for After School Activities
#CVSBacktoSchool
To keep up with homework assignments and after school activities, kids should be able have access to quick nutritious snacks. For this reason, I stock up on crackers and snack bars, every time I shop for school snacks. I keep them them handy for everyday snaking and on game days, I bring extras with me to share with the entire team. Today, I want to share with you some of my mommy approved snacks for after school activities or to be more exact, my top 5 snacking ideas for after school activities.
Top 5 Snacking Ideas for After School Activities:
- Instant Oatmeal Maple & Brown Sugar: This is a super easy snack that can be done in a flash. Just grab a pack of instant oatmeal maple & brown sugar, empty the content in a microwave-safe bowl, add 2-3 cups of water and stir, microwave for 2 minutes and top with dry fruits or enjoy as is. Easy does it and the kids or you will be ready to take on the after school activities.
- Organic 8-Grain Wheat Crackers: Another easy snack to avoid the afternoon energy slump is by topping a few Organic 8-Grain wheat crackers with cheese.
- Fresh Fruits: When your kids start to feel sluggish and energy depleted, don’t let them reach for a piece of candy. Instead hand them a piece of fresh fruits. For example, keep apples handy, they are rich on fiber. Consider bananas for their easily digested sugars and you can’t never go wrong with a handful of strawberries or grapes.
- Mango & Strawberry Fruit & Veggie or Pomegranate & Cranberry Snack Bars: Hey, I know that not everyone has time to stop and eat. Therefore, when on the run, you don’t have to go hungry. Grab a few snack bars and stuff them in your kiddos backpack, lunch bag or in your purse. I always keep a few snack bars in my purse or my daughter’s bag for when we are at Soccer practices and games.
- Water: Yes, water. Our bodies need to water to run efficiently and to generate energy. Therefore, keeping our body well-hydrated is very important, specially when engaging on activities, such a sports. If you kiddos are not fans of water, try adding a few drops of lemon or flavor water enhancers.
