Must-do outdoor activities this Christmas season
Most people have a great plan for their Christmas holidays, but they generally include indoor activities. If you’re looking for some fun things to do this winter, check out these great out-door activities that get the whole family out and having fun.
Get a little nostalgic and have a snowball fight just like you did when you were a kid. Build a snowman, too, and go sledding in the snow. Make snow angels and catch snowflakes on your tongue.
Don’t live in a place where you’re likely to get enough snow? Try collecting pine cones and twigs to make a great wreath. The fun of being out in the frosty air and doing this as a family will make your forget all about the lack of snow. Build an outdoor fort at night, or pitch a tent next to a bonfire and have fun telling ghost stories.
Do you have an outdoor hot tub? There’s nothing quite like enjoying that when the air is bitter and cold. If you don’t, bring patio chairs and blankets around a fire pit and have fun roasting marshmallows and drinking warm cider or cocoa. Read from your favorite Christmas tales and have fun sharing what you are all looking forward to in the new year.
Does your family enjoy shopping? Hit up those Christmas sales and do it for yourself, not for gifts! Shop outlets and small businesses instead of malls so you can enjoy warm drinks and snacks as you walk through the cold air from one place to another. Let the winter-chill make your cheeks rosy and revel in the warmth of each new store as you pop in to check out their bargains.
Really like the Christmas spirit? Make it known by having the family get outside and decorate the outer shell of your home and yard with Christmas lights and other decor. Make it bright and festive- like your spirit! Afterward, go caroling and get other neighbors to join you. Not only is this a great bonding experience for your family, but it gets the whole neighborhood together for some old-fashioned Christmas season fun.
