Well, we made it to Thanksgiving week! Would you be traveling to see family this week? If you are, we wish you safe travels. We on the other hand, we will be celebrating with our family here in Miami! Although, we are not traveling for Thanksgiving, we are making plans for a quick getaway later next month. This got me thinking about how to prepare for Family Holiday Gatherings, there are a few things we must do whether or not we are traveling out of town.

Traveling with three kids is not easy by any means, but I have learned a few tricks. Today I wanted to share a few things I have learned through personal experiences and other I have applied after speaking to more experienced parents.

  1. If you are going to travel away from home, bring one or two days of extra clothing. You never know when the weather is going to turn and will need to layer clothing, this happened to us one time while at Disney. You need to be ready for those pesky accidents, yeah, we have all experienced bathroom accidents.
  2. Bring extra Diapers and Wipes, we always pack extra diapers in our overnight back and place extras in our baby bag. Don’t get me wrong, I am not one of those moms that won’t let her kids touch anything, but I do make sure I have wipes everywhere we go. Wipes are super handy for cleaning runny noses, hands and anything else in between. We always make sure to bring lots of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers with its New SureFit Design with up to 12 hour of leakage protection, unique flexible waistband and more conforming gap-free fit. As well as, Natural Care Wipes with its New Triple Clean Layers which is gentle on baby’s skin and thick enough to clean messes. 😉
  3. Bring snacks: we keep all kinds of snack, juices and bottle water in our baby bag, of course if you are traveling by plane, liquids might be out of the question. We have learned that kids get anxious while traveling and a quick snack not only holds them up until you can get them a meal but can also keep them entertained.
  4. Bring entertainment: let’s be honest, we live in a connected society, we always make sure that our kindle tablets are fully charged the night before we travel. This is an easy way to keep the kids entertained for a few hours while we get to our destination.
  5. Finally, talk to the kids and explain your travel plans: this is easier said then done but I have learned that if they know where we are going, the trip goes along easier.

Would love to hear your tips to prepare for family holiday gathering!
