You know that old proverb that says “it takes a village to raise a child“? Growing up this statement was very prominent in our family, however, now as an adult this means a whole lot more. Whether it is a sibling, a parent, an aunt, an uncle, a friend, a neighbor or a teacher lending a hand, raising a family wouldn’t be possible without the support from those around you. Today, I want to invite you to go on a little virtual adventure to #BOOItForward, however, first let me backtrack a little. If you been following this blog for a while, you might have read that my current residence is the same house in which I grew up in. Yes, this is the same house my parents raised my sister and I. A few years ago, my husband and I purchased this property from my parents and decided to raise our family here. Our neighborhood has always been a special place for me, it is a quiet place where most of the residents are older folks mixed with a few new families, like my own. The best part for me is that, schools and parks are all within walking distance.
Simple DIY Boo Kit + Yummy Brownies in a Jar
#BOOItForward #CollectiveBias
Every year, I make the point to thank the teachers that help our kiddos on a daily basis by surprising them with a special homemade memento from our family. Since, we just enter the celebrating season, I decided to pick up a few items from my local Walmart store to make a Boo Kit for the kids to present these special people.
While browsing the store to get ideas, I came a cross the #BOOItForward in-store demo, where I was able to sample some of Mars/Wrigley‘s yummy Halloween candy. After trying these yummy treats and because this season brings me back to my childhood, I also decided to prepare a yummy M&M’s brownies in a jar, cause everyone loves treats in a jar! 🙂
Simple DIY Boo Kit
To prepare my Boo Kit and armed with my $2.00 off coupon, I picked up one of each of these cute Canada Dry and 7UP® 8 ounce, 6 pack Halloween cans and one bag of Chocolate Mix Fun Size filled with my favorite M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, and TWIX® candies. Now, the assembly of these super cute and simple DIY Boo Kits is as easy as 1, 2, 3! First of all, all you need is a cute or scary pumpkin. Second, lots and lots of yummy candies. And finally, creepy crawlers (optional) and a “You’ve Been BOO’d” greeting card. Then assemble your simple DIY Boo Kit by placing lots of candies inside your pumpkin, adding a can of Canada Dry and 7UP®. Don’t forget to cut out this “We’ve been BOO’d sign“. Fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together. Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bundles. Simple right?
Yummy M&M’s Brownies in a Jar
Purchasing all these supplies for the Boo Kits, also got me thinking of a fun idea that I have been meaning to do. I love, love, love mason jars, I think they are so adorable. So, to put a touch of homemade into our Boo Kit, I also picked up box of my favorite brownie mix to prepare our M&M’s® brownies in a jar. As you can imagine this recipe is quite easy, so if you can mix a few ingredients together, I guarantee you will not go wrong!
Here is what you need to do to prepare these yummy brownies in a jar: mix the brownie mix with eggs, oil and water (according to the box). Secondly, pour 2 to 3 table spoons of brownie mix into small mason jars, pour a fun size bag of M&M’s® to the mix and top with 2 to 3 table spoons of brownie mix. Place you mason jars on a baking sheet, bake your brownies at 350 degrees for about 20-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted 1″ from the edge of the mason jar comes out clean. Finally, let the brownies cool down and enjoy them! Simple easy and Oh, so fun!
As I said before, I found everything I needed for my Simple DIY Boo Kit and Yummy Brownies in a Jar at my local Walmart. Now, I ask you how will you #BOOItForward? And one more thing, now it is your turn to have fun… Right now, you can enter to win a $1,000 Walmart e-gift card weekly!
