Star Wars: The Last Jedi Press Event Experience
I was provided an all-expense paid trip to L.A to attend the Star Wars: The Last Jedi press junket. No additional compensation was received.

LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 03: (L-R) Director Rian Johnson, actors Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis attend the press conference for the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi at InterContinental Los Angeles on December 3, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. Whoa, how time flies when you are having fun! This time last week, myself along with journalist from all over the world were preparing for the anticipating Star Wars: The Last Jedi global press event happening at the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles California. This global press event was hosted by Anthony Breznican and in attendance was just about every cast member from the film, as well as director Rian Johnson. More on that next week, however, after the interview part of the press event, we had the chance to experience a unique media day event happening also at the hotel.
BB-8 and BB-9e Photo Opp Fun
During the Star Wars: The Last Jedi press event, we had the amazing opporutnity to preview costume vignettes from the film itself, see the hottest products available just in time for the holiday season, enjoy some delicious Star Wars-inspired ice cream, view on-set photograph stills from the film, partake in some fun photo opps with our favorite Droids and tons more. Below you can see some of the exciting things experienced on that day.
Let’s start with our favorite photo opps of the day! Both BB-8 and BB-9e, as well as, two Praetorian guards on loan from Supreme Leader Snoke were on hand to answer questions and take some fun “from a galaxy far, far away” photos with the attendees.
Disney Parks – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Sketches
There were also displays from Director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi set production photography. As well as, a Disneyland Star Wars land preview, which is set to open in the sumer 2019. This one cannot be missed and personally, I cannot wait to see it!
Star Wars Costume Vignettes
With less than one week before Star Wars: The Last Jedi arriving in theaters everywhere the next part of this event was surreal, to say the least. As a huge Star Wars fan myself, seeing Leia, Luke, Kylo Ren & Rey’s Costume vignettes was beyond thrilling and it only intensified the excitement of seeing the movie next week.
Movies Anywhere Lounge
This part of the press event was a bit more relaxing and at this point a welcomed one. Are you familiar with the Movies Anywhere app? I am and I love it because this app acts as your personal “digital looker”, which lets you store ALL your favorite movies in one place so you can watch them when and where you want. The best part is that the service is free, all you have to do is create a free account, connect your digital accounts or add your movies’ digital code and then watch from anywhere or whenever you want.
Ample Hills Ice Cream Flavors Inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi
And what is a celebration without delicious treats? In celebration of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Ample Hills Ice creams has release three limited-edition flavors inspired by the heroes and villains of this beloved franchise. Each Star Wars 3-Pack includes:
- First Order ice cream flavor: A celebration of the monolithic, fierce power of the First Order. Embrace relentless villainy with this salted deep dark chocolate ice cream, made with intense cocoa powder, bittersweet chocolate and a dash of powerful espresso.
- Resistance ice cream flavor: A celebration of the spirit and determination of the motley band of resistance fighters, it’s a brown sugar and vanilla bean ice cream with a wild assortment of mix-ins: passionate, fiery red velvet ooey gooey butter cake, hard-edged toffee pieces and spirited, hopeful mini-marshmallows.
- The Force ice cream flavor: A celebration of the power and beauty of the Jedi. Bring balance to the Force with the harmony and serenity of this sweet cream ice cream (the light side), but beware the seductive swirls of rich chocolate fudge (the dark side) – an epic conflict set against a galaxy of white and dark chocolate pearls.
X-Lab VR Demo Experience
Hey, you cannot attend a press event and not experience the fun activities for yourself, right? And because of this, I had the most fun testing and playing with the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges augmented reality video game from Lenovo.
Feel the Force as you fight for galactic peace with the Lenovo Star Wars™: Jedi Challenges AR headset. It works with an iOS or Android smartphone to enable the game app, letting you engage in virtual Jedi duels. This Lenovo Star Wars™: Jedi Challenges AR headset includes a lightsaber controller and a tracking beacon to arm you for battle.
T-Shirt Making Station
Speaking of fun, have you ever designed your own keepsake T-shirt? Well, now that I have done it, I get to say that I have. While at the Star Wars: The Last Jedi press event, each attendee got to design and see how their chosen designed got printed on their selected shirt. This part was definitely a fun one.
Littlebits Droid Inventor Kits
Have you seen the adorable and super creative Littlebits droid inventor kits? I have to be honest here, I hadn’t seen them before, but let me just say that I have fallen for these kits. I love that they let your kids create their own Droid, no Droid will be the same because it is up to your child to customize it to their linking. I also love that these little Droid can be brought to “life” with the included Droid parts, 9V battery, and free app.
Kids can now create their own Droid and bring it to life using littleBits electronic blocks! Then they’ll take it on 16+ missions and give it new abilities in the free Droid Inventor app.
