Things To Do with Kids in Williamsburg, VA
George P. Coleman Bridge – Yorktown, Virginia
My family and I love all things history, so upon arriving in Williamsburg, Virginia, we just had to take a drive along the Colonial Parkway. Colonial Parkway connects Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown, the 23-mile scenic road is host to amazing views of the James and York rivers. Pretty cool to say the least.
Beach Near The Riverwalk Landing – Yorktown, Virginia
Of course, after that beautiful drive, the next natural stop is the Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown to stretch your legs along the York riverwalk. Here, you will be able to find dining options, outdoor recreations & events, as well as, sweeping views of both the George P. Coleman Bridge and the historic campus of The College of William and Mary, Thomas Jefferson’s alma mater.
While you are enjoying the riverwalk, grab your swimsuit and hit the 2-acre beach near the Riverwalk Landing center. This beach area is perfect if you are traveling with kids, they can play in the sand, swim or just gather shells along the river’s edge. My kids had a blast there and hey, it didn’t cost us a thing! 🙂
Yorktown, Virginia Trolley
In my opinion, the best part about traveling to historical sites like Williamsburg is learning more about the area from the locals. And what better way to learn and see more from this area than from a trolley? Well, you and your family can take the 4-mile loop around historic Yorktown Village aboard a free air-conditioned trolley and learn more about each scenic stop. You can catch the trolley at Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center.
Watermen’s Museum – Yorktown, Virginia
If your children love museums as much as mine does, there are plenty of those in Williamsburg and some museums even offer free admission on some days. So, if you are making plans to visit Williamsburg, I would suggest checking with the specific museum you are planning to visit for free admission days. Speaking of museums, what Williamsburg visit will not include plans to the first permanent English colony in North America? That’s why the Jamestown Settlement is definitely a must visit, just keep in mind that you will be paying a general admission to access the site.
Water Country USA, Williamsburg, Virginia
Last but not least of things to do with the kids in Williamsburg, VA. When visiting Williamsburg in the Summer, your must things to do with the kids have to include Virginia’s largest water park. Water Country USA is host to 11 water rides and slides, a wave pool, and plenty of water activities perfect for every member of your family. Stay tuned for more about Water Country USA.
