Tips-For-Storing-Your-Holiday-Decorations-Miami-Mommy-SavingsTips for Storing your Holiday Decorations!

Do you get nostalgic when January rolls around and it is time to put away your beautiful Holiday decorations? I sure do, however, the good news that in about 11 months or less you will be able to enjoy them again. 🙂 This year we did things a bit different, we set up our Christmas tree well into December and this past weekend we put everything away. This is not typical in our household but due to a few changes, we had to get everything done early. This got me thinking… How do you store your Holiday decorations at the end of the Holiday season? Well, today I want to share with you a few Tips for Storing your Holiday Decorations without too much fuss.

Tip 1: Guarding you delicate ornaments. There are so many ways to storing your ornaments, for example if you are like us and only have plastic unbreakable ornaments, then the easy way to storing them is by placing them in the original container. If you don’t have little ones and opted for glass ornaments, you too have many options for storing them. They key here is to avoid them from banging together when stored. For instance, re-purpose your egg containers and place each ornament in a separate compartment. You can also store your ornaments in plastic cups or boxes, making sure to separate them with paper or cardboard.

Tip 2: Lights, Lights, Lights. Oh those pesky lights! They key to storing lights is to avoid letting them get tangle, you can easily store you Holiday lights by winding them around a cardboard or around an old hanger. Yes, it is that easy, make sure your wind the lights around tightly and place tape at the beginning and the end to ensure they stay in place. By the way, make sure you don’t forget to put away the extension cord away as well.

Tip 3: Garland, Tree topper, & misc. Store other miscellaneous items should be easy as well, for example, storing that expensive garland is just as easy as 1, 2, 3. Head over to your local craft store and pick up a garland or wreath organizer and simply wrap your garland in it. For your tree topper, put it back in its original container or purchase a plastic box that would accommodate it in it. For your Holiday cards, take a picture of them and then recycle them or again take a picture of them and keep just a few of your favorite ones, no need to store them all.

As you can see, there is no need to fuss about putting your Holiday decor away, besides 11 months go by super fast when you are having fun doing other things. 🙂 I would love to hear from you, how do you store your Holiday keepsakes?

what a great idea. Love all the tipis in this post. Storing my ornaments is my worst nightmare, because each year we always find broken ones.
