Why Team Sports are Beneficial to Kids
The excitement of the Back-to-School season is in the air, from new clothes and shoes to school supplies, the kids cannot wait to get back to their regular routine and of course to see their old and new friends. For my kids, Back-to-School is not only about going back to their school routine but also to begin their regular organized sports. For my kids, soccer has been a huge part of their lives ever since they were very young. For me, not only are sports fun and exciting for them but knowing the psychological and academic benefits that it provides them with gives me peace of mind. So, Why Team Sports are Beneficial to Kids? Team sports not only provides kids with camaraderie among their peers, builds social, and teamwork skills. It also provides them with and helps them gain greater self-awareness and self-esteem. As well as, sports helps them develop long lasting relationships, teaches them respect. Plus it encourages family involvement. And finally, it provides kids with constant exercise. As you can see there are many benefits for kids that play organized sports and as a little league mom, I love it when our local businesses help kids get a leg up with local organized sports organizations.
New SEG Sports Initiative
To help athletes of all ages and abilities aspire for greatness, Southeastern Grocers, (parent company to BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores), has developed SEG Sports with a pledge to:
Fuel young athletes and their families with fresh, nutritious foods designed to fuel activity every step of the way. Southern Grocers developed the SEG sports initiative because they found that 95 percent of us customers believe eating the right food is an important part of children staying active! Do you agree? I sure do!
Further, it was found that only one in three children are physically active every day. This fact is astounding and , therefore, Southeastern Grocers is coaching customers who want their children to be more active by providing them with tips to help feed their competitive fires.
Finally, Southern Grocers wants to Inspire the next active generation through partnerships with some of the leading athletes and teams in the Southeast.
