Having lived in South Florida for thirty years has made me appreciate all things Florida especially the local farmer’s markets and locally grown produce that are available just a short drive away. Because of this and many reasons more is why we choose to buy locally grown produce all year round.
This post was sponsored by Fresh From Florida as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central, however all opinions expressed are my own.
Growing up, my mother always made the point of buying all kinds of fresh locally grown fruits and veggies for my sister and me to enjoy. I still can remember coming home from school to a refrigerator filled to the brim with colorful and delicious in-season fruits and veggies. The funny thing is that my mother-in-law used to do the same thing for my husband and his brother. Now that we are parents, we are following in our parent’s footsteps and this is one of the main reasons why we choose to buy locally grown produce for our family to enjoy all year round.
Another reason why we choose to buy locally grown produces is because they are conveniently available at our local farmer’s markets, as well as, our local supermarkets. Trust me, Miami has many large grocery and small moms’ and pops’ stores that carry all kinds of delicious fruits and veggies grown right here in Florida.
As a matter of fact, right now you can easily find bell peppers, strawberries, tomatoes, mushrooms, radish, snap beans, and cabbage just about everywhere, including at one of my favorite Florida grocery stores, Publix! And yes, you can even find some of these delicious produces at your local u-pick farms and local farmer’s markets.
So, if you are in visiting Florida or moving to Florida soon, here is my number one way you can choose to buy locally grown produce: while shopping at your local grocery supermarket, be sure to look for the Fresh From Florida seal (as seen in the picture above). As I mentioned above, don’t forget to visit your local farmer’s markets and/or many of the u-pick farms available throughout Florida to pick up some of the best produce Florida has to offer.
Now and before I go to enjoy some of the Fresh from Florida strawberries and prepare a delicious chicken soup with the delicious sweet corn I picked up today. Tell me how do you “follow the fresh” and why do you choose to buy locally grown produce? Drop me a note via the comment section below.
