For those of us, who love to visit Orlando frequently is not a secret that Orlando has tons of attractions specifically designed with family entertainment in mind. If you are heading to the central Florida area soon and are wondering what is there to do in Orlando. The answer is simple, you and your family have to visit WonderWorks and The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show.
My family and I were hosted by the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando and WonderWorks Orlando in exchange for an honest review. No monetary compensation was received.
WonderWorks Orlando is an indoor hands-on science attraction and interactive museum/venue centrally located on Orlando’s International Drive. WonderWorks Orlando is not an only a pretty cool indoor attraction, as a matter of fact, they are also hosts to a laser tag, a ropes course & a 4D motion ride. If that wasn’t all, from now until September 30, 2018, over 20 Hilton family hotels in Orlando are offering a brand new Experience Orlando package, giving guests the chance to enjoy Orlando activities beyond the theme parks during their visit.
Guests who book the Experience Orlando package will get exclusive access to over $200-worth of unique discounts at over a dozen attractions and experiences around Central Florida, from family-oriented to thrilling adventures. Thanks to Hilton Orlando Hotels, my family and I had the opportunity to visit WonderWorks and The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show (more on the latter later), a few weeks ago.
According to WonderWorks, “this once top-secret laboratory was located in the Bermuda triangle. An experiment gone awry lifted the laboratory carrying it to International Drive in Orlando, Florida where it landed upside down. Luckily all of the exhibits remained intact and available for guests to explore.”
As you make your way through the main entrance and look up at the ceiling, you know that WonderWorks is not like anything you have ever seen before or been before. 🙂 With the ceiling now under your feet and the ground above your head, you will make your way pass through the inversion tunnel to realign yourself and start your adventure!
As you pass through the inversion tunnel, you will land on level 1 which is home to WonderWorks’ “Natural Disasters” exhibit. Followed by level 2 which is home to the Physical Challenge, Light & Sound, Space Discovery, and Imagination Lab. The Far Out art gallery (in addition to the art gallery) zone is spread out throughout the stairwells and hallways of WonderWorks, so be on the lookout for those.
Natural Disaster Zone
The Natural Disaster zone is host to six unique exhibits. My family’s favorites were the Earthquake Cafe, where you get to experience a 5.3 earthquake on the Richter scale. Our next favorite is the Hurricane Shack, where you can experience category 1 winds of 74 miles an hour.
My 11-year old loved love loved the How Cold Is It? exhibit, here you get to experience what it was like cold seawater at the time of the Titanic sinking. Finally, the Tesla Coil was another big hit with the kids, here you will become a human lightning rod. Here you get to experience 100,000 volts of electricity by placing your hand through a mesh & steel armor glove and then let the Tesla Coil emits the volts of electricity. How cool is that?
Physical Challenge Zone
The Physical challenge zone is another area where your family will be challenged. Our favorites here had to include the Bed of Nails, where you can lie down on a bed with 3500 nails. Ouchy? No way, the kids each took turns finding out the answer for themselves. If you love bubbles, the Bubble Lab will be a big hit with your family as well. At the Bubble Lab, you and your family will get to create bubbles the size of basketballs. Yeah, I am not kidding you, they are that big!
Want to create 3-Dimensional images of your body on a gigantic pin wall made of 40,000 plastic pins? At WonderWork’s Wonder Wall you get to do just that, plus if you are anything like my daughter, you will want to make 3-D prints of your hand. 🙂 Finally, test your upper body strength on WonderWorks’ Pulley Power. Just take a seat on one of the chairs and use the rope to pull yourself up.
Light & Sound zone
Have you ever want to play one of those BIG pianos you see in the movies? Well, at WonderWorks you can just do that. Head on over to the Light & Sound zone and get your groove on the Giant Piano. Or maybe just want to bust a move and transformed your shadow into multiplies different colors and patterns on WonderWorks’ Recollections exhibit.
Imagination Lab Zone
Have you ever seen a Wonder Brite wall? WonderWorks Orlando has one and my kids sure loved this attraction. They sure let their imagination run wild creating all such shapes and patterns with the giant Brite light sticks. According to WonderWorks Orlando, the “WonderBrite wall is a large scale Lite-Brite wall with hundreds of multicolored acrylic rods. Perfect for developing your imagination and their sensory skills.”
Space Discovery Zone
Now, let’s move on to what my kids called the best adrenaline-packed zone at WonderWorks Orlando, which is the Space Discovery zone. The Space Discovery zone is home to a life-size replica of an EVA suit, a replica of a Mercury capsule, an Astronaut training gyroscope, and the Wonder coaster exhibits. Of course, we had to explore them all and take on the challenges.
Who hasn’t wonder how it will be to be a real NASA astronaut? Well, in the Space Discover zone not only will you be able to explore, but you will be able to experience the sensation of weightlessness like in outer space aboard WonderWorks’ Astronaut training challenge. After you and your family work up an appetite at the different zones on levels 1 and 2, you must head on over to the Outta Control Magic Comedy dinner show.
The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show
The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show features Tony Brent who has been performing at WonderWorks for over 17 years now. The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show is a hilarious show that combines high-energy comedy improvisation with spectacular magic. It is worth mentioning that the Outta Control Magic Comedy dinner show is not included with your WonderWorks Orlando attraction tickets.
During the show, you will enjoy unlimited salad, which is already waiting for you as you make your way to your table. Then the best part comes, the fresh hand-tossed pizza served family-style is served and you get to enjoy all the pizza you want! But that’s not all, with your unlimited salad and pizza dinner, you also get your choice of beer, wine, and Pepsi product soft drinks. If you are not into those choices, there are other specialty drinks additional for an extra charge, just order them with your server.
While you and your family enjoy your dinner, Tony Brent will entertain you. During the 60 min dinner show, Brent will make you laugh and laugh more with the help of some of the audience members. I actually love this part, because he includes both youngsters and not so young members of the audience. Super cool. At the end of your meal, everyone gets a slice of red velvet cake. Which by the way, it is my favorite cake! Get a taste of the Outta Control Magic Comedy dinner show on our video above.
The fun doesn’t stop with Outta Control Magic Comedy dinner show, oh no! Did I mention that WonderWorks Orlando is opened until midnight? Well, it is and my family and I stayed until its closing time to enjoy every single level of WonderWorks Orlando. As I mentioned before, WonderWorks is host to a laser tag, a ropes course & a 4D motion ride, which are located on level 3 and that’s where the family went after dinner. We began by venturing off into WonderWorks laser tag. The blacklit laser tag maze is a fast-paced, action-packed and oh-so-much-fun battle. There are no teams on this laser tag maze, so be sure to say alert.
Next, we had to enjoy WonderWoks’ indoor rope course. This 3-story glow-in-the-dark adventure is home to over 20 different obstacles, crossing carefully over suspension bridges, swinging beams, lily pads and more! It is worth mentioning that if you plan on doing the rope course to wear closed shoes and that skirts are not allowed on the indoor rope course. To conclude our WonderWorks adventure we rode the 4D motion theater about 6 times. Yeah, it is that fun. WonderWorks’ 4D motion theater combines 3D film effects with full motion seating. My kids loved it and the reason they kept asking if they could ride it over and over.
