Zootopia Movie Review: The perfect film for the whole family!

Zootopia is Now Playing in Theatres Everywhere!!! Yes, that statement deserves three exclamations points, and yes, I am that excited about this film. While I was in Orlando for the #ZootopiaEvent, I had the opportunity to screen Zootopia alongside a group of amazing bloggers, TV media, marketing & PR professionals and even the two movie directors Byron Howard & Rich Moore. Pretty neat, right? Anyways, we all agree that Zootopia is an amazing movie with an even more exceptional subject matter. It is a movie that will not only resonate with kids but their parents and grandparents too.

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

Why is Zootopia the perfect film for the entire family?

There are so many reasons why this movie is the perfect film for the entire family, so let’s start with my number #1 reason. When I take my family to see a movie, I want them to learn a lesson or at least, to make them think about the movie’s subject matter. Hey, if I can get a good conversation started about something that resonated with them, that’s a HUGE plus in my book. So, Zootopia is sure to get the conversation started! I am positive that after my kiddos see the movie, we will be discussing how Judy Hopps knew exactly what she wanted to be and how she overcame many stereotypes and bullies to get to where she wanted to go.

Zootopia Lesson#1: You can be anything you want to be!

If that wasn’t enough, the movie is pretty funny. As I said before, this movie will resonate with parents and grandparents too and the reason is because the movie directors injected some many funny scenes into the movie that parents would enjoy and kids will get a kick out of watching their parents enjoying the scenes. For example, and this is just a taste of what you will see in the movie. The GodFather references will have you laughing-out-loud and that’s exactly how the directors wanted it. Another LOL moment is the sloths at the DMV and there are other ones too, but I will leave those for you to discover while you are watching the movie.

Zootopia Lesson #2: You can overcome anything when you set your mind to it!

Last but not least, Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodman are fantastic in the movie and let’s not forget Shakira. As you are watching the movie, you will be convinced that Jason Bateman is Nick Wilde, it is almost like watching an animated version of Jason. Ginnifer voices the character of Judy Hopps with such conviction and determination, she is almost fearless. I just love this character. And finally, Shakira as the voice of Gazelle and her newest tune “Try Everything,” will fast become yours and your kiddos newest favorite sing-a-long.

Zootopia Lesson #3: No one is perfect, confront your errors and make them right!
