Do your kids have a favorite TV show? My kiddos have many and since they cannot get enough of their favorite TV shows, they have setup our Dish DVR to record all the new episodes. Oh and when we are on the go, they are sure to watch them on deman via the Dish Anywhere app. Yes, that’s how loyal they are to their TV shows. I really don’t mind that they can access their age appropiate TV shows on their own tablets and our phones, I do however, have to keep them close by to make sure they are not wondering into other territories. Mommies and daddies know what I am talking about. Anyhow, today is a great day for us mommies and daddies with the same dilemma. Dish Anywhere has introduced Kids’ profiles, which gives us parents the ability to build unique profile (for up to five different individuals) and to filter content to ensure that the TV shows and movies available for them to watch are age-friendly. Super cool, right? Keep reading to find out more information and to get a step-by-step instructions to setup your Kids’ profiles.
DISH Anywhere introduces Kids’ Profiles
The new profiles give several benefits to every parents’ peace of mind, for example:
- Profiles integrate independent age-based ratings from Common Sense Media to filter entertainment in Kids’ Profiles, based on the child’s age (up to 13 years).
- Filters provide age-friendly TV shows and movies, so parents can be assured their children are watching appropriate content.
- A new lock feature ensures that when the child exits DISH Anywhere and returns later, they will automatically be redirected to his or her designated profile and only able to access their age-appropriate DVR and on-demand content.
How to Setup Kids’ Profiles in DISH Anywhere:
- From your DISH Anywhere app home screen, select the “Settings” icon from the bottom right-hand corner.
- Next, select “Manage Profiles.” This is how you will begin the process of setting up a Kid’s Profile. Here you have the ability to add additional administrator or user profiles for other members in your household who aren’t children, or don’t need age restrictions.
- Now you need to add your first Kid’s Profile. To do this, tap “Add Profile.”
- Once your new profile has been added, you will need to add specific details to optimize your Kid’s Profile. First, personalize the profile by adding a name–we chose “Johnny.” Second, designate this profile as a “Kid,” so DISH Anywhere knows to apply age settings. Lastly, use the sliding bar to select your child’s specific age to ensure they can access movies and TV shows deemed age-appropriate by Common Sense Media.
- Kid’s Mobile phone, tablet or you DISH Anywhere, you can set your Kid’s Profile as the default profile.
- You may also choose to apply a passcode that must be entered in order to exit a Kid’s Profile. Simply tap “Manage Profile” from the Kid’s Profile you just added and tap the toggle for “Require Passcode.”
- Enter the passcode of your choice. Now, you are all set up with your new Kid’s Profile! To add additional Kids’ Profiles, simply repeat the steps outlined above.
